Guildford and Waverley CCG - Out of Hours short survey

By Mary B
Dear Members in Surrey, Out-of-hours services in Guildford & Waverley, Surrey are due for review and a new contract will be awarded in January 2014. 'Out-of-hours' care is the access that you have to many NHS services outside of normal surgery hours. This might mean healthcare professionals making home visits, access to walk-in centres, or advice over the phone. We are keen for as many members of the public in Surrey as possible to contribute to this process, as your views help us to design services suited to your needs. We therefore invite you to fill out this anonymous questionnaire. You don't have to answer every question and can ignore any questions that aren't relevant or that you don't want to answer, however the more detail you give, the more we can represent your views in the process. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ZDLJRMC Thank you for your help. SCIE Find Me Good Care

By Mary B
SCIE is developing a new website to help people to make choices about care and has published a holding page for 'Find Me Good Care', which will be launched later this summer. The site will provide information about care and support for all adults, including regulated and unregulated services. It will help providers of all sizes to promote their services and support councils to provide cost-effective information to local residents. The site will include: a comparable directory of services; an interactive guide to choosing and paying for care; and a feedback mechanism that will be moderated carefully to ensure that individuals and organisations are treated fairly. See more details at the Find Me Good Care webpage http://www.findmegoodcare.co.uk

CAMEO “Come and Meet Each Other” project

By Mary B

Another brilliant idea from Kent.
We have been asked to publicise the following service which we think looks really helpful and is the kind of project DropBy wants to promote and support.

A new service for people who have found themselves single & isolated due to the death or separation of a partner.

Participants can come and learn a new skill and have fun while they socialise with like-minded people.

A 12 week series of workshops to equip participants with practical skills

Including:
Personal safety and home security
Online and telephone banking
Personal finances
Basic car maintenance
Simple DIY
Healthy eating and cooking for one

Each course will incorporate a social event, such as a pub lunch or theatre trip.

CAMEO groups will provide an extended social circle and opportunities to learn new and essential life skills. CAMEO will help people to help themselves and one another. The project will support isolated people to learn new skills and to become involved in adult learning, volunteering and new social friendships. The project aims to foster a spirit of community involvement and to empower people to become involved in decisions that affect their lives and their communities.

If this is you, then do not be alone, come along and learn a new skill, have fun whilst you socialise with like-minded people.
